Biohealth: Innovating for Better Care

TheUniversité Grenoble Alpes has a unique feature rarely found in France: it serves as a meeting point for cutting-edge biology, micro- and nanotechnologies, and artificial intelligence.

Scientific Ecosystem

  • The Institute for the Advancement of Biosciences
A center of excellence that brings together more than 300 researchers working on epigenetics, cancer, and the environment.
  • Major European research facilities
Grenoble is one of the few locations in the world to have both a synchrotron (ESRF) and a neutron source (ILL). These tools make it possible to observe proteins and molecules “in real time” and at an unmatched resolution, propelling the UGA to a leading position in structural biology.

Scientific Programs

  • Grenoble-Neurotech
The Grenoble-Neurotech project aims to develop neuroprostheses that enable people with paralysis to compensate—at least in part—for the loss of control over their upper limbs or speech.
  • my Health Companions
Miniaturized, minimally invasive (if at all), discreet, and innovative companions, developed through co-design with all stakeholders, empowering everyone to take control of their health—from prevention to treatment.

Innovation

Université Grenoble Alpes is the university that files the most patents in France (often ranked first among French universities in the INPI rankings). In the field of biohealth, this has led to the creation of startups originating from UGA laboratories, specializing in smart medical devices.

Training Courses

A training program certified under the "Skills and Careers of the Future" initiative:
  • Innovative Biohealth Education School (IBES)
The IBES project aims to train several thousand students in the fields of biotherapy and bioproduction in order to meet the future needs of national manufacturers.
  • Health Data Training Program (PFDS)
The PFDS project is an educational program designed to provide a comprehensive and personalized training solution in digital health through simulations and practical scenarios.
