Université Grenoble Alpes, a driving force behind regional development

Located at the heart of a unique innovation ecosystem and a vast international network, our university is a driving force for regional development. With a strong presence in Isère, Drôme, Ardèche, and Savoie, we make access to higher education and research a priority, even in the most remote areas. Working closely with our local partners, we are enhancing the appeal of our campuses—particularly the one in Valence —and actively contributing to our region’s international influence through our expertise.
Rooted in the Alps and the Rhône Valley while remaining open to the world, Université Grenoble Alpes places regional development at the heart of its priorities. Working alongside local authorities, economic, educational, cultural, and community partners, we leverage education, research, and innovation to support social, economic, digital, and environmental transformations.

A Presence in the Region

With a presence in Isère, Drôme, Ardèche, and Savoie, we make higher education more accessible to the public, particularly in rural and remote areas. The UGA Campus Valence , Drôme-Ardèche has nearly 5,400 students enrolled in 53 degree programs and 67 tracks. We also support several connected campuses and here in Mirabel, we rely on the Cermosem, a rural campus dedicated to regional development, rural issues, and the sustainable management of natural areas.

An international presence

This presence is also supported by scientific infrastructure of international renown. In Savoie, the Modane Underground Laboratory hosts international research in physics, geosciences, and biology. In the Grenoble metropolitan area, six major research facilities enhance the region's scientific and economic appeal.

Knowledge Transfer

At the same time, we promote the transfer of knowledge to society and businesses, particularly through the Grenoble Alpes University Innovation Hub which provides a framework for collaboration between public research institutions and the private sector, as well as the MIAI Cluster which brings together researchers, students, companies, and institutions to discuss the topic of responsible artificial intelligence.
