Our Initiatives to Ensure Accessibility for Students and Staff with Disabilities

We are committed to ensuring a fully accessible environment for all our students and staff. Our approach to inclusion is centered on two key priorities: digital accessibility, where we aim for maximum compliance of our web tools and platforms, and the accessibility of our campuses and buildings, guided by a multi-year construction plan. Learn about the concrete steps we’re taking to remove physical and digital barriers and ensure equal access to information and facilities.

Digital Accessibility

Our goal is to fully comply with French regulations on digital accessibility (introduced by the 2005 law and recently strengthened by the 2023 ordinance). We are therefore launching an initiative aimed at achieving maximum compliance with the General Framework for Improving Accessibility (RGAA) for all our digital tools and features (websites, content management systems, applications, etc.). Our goal is to significantly improve the accessibility of the content and resources we publish, thereby fulfilling our legal obligations while ensuring equal access to information for all.

Our initiatives:

  • Develop a multi-year digital accessibility plan (SPAN) that will guide all our actions.
  • Seek funding and support from the Fund for the Integration of People with Disabilities into the Civil Service (FIPHFP) and the "Design and Accessibility of Digital Products and Services" funding program of the Digital Division.
  • Plan and budget for compliance initiatives over several years.
  • Conduct regular compliance checks and audits.
  • Train all relevant staff, particularly those in information systems and website contributors.
  • Inform all staff about the challenges and best practices related to digital accessibility.
  • Include a digital accessibility clause in all our hiring processes and public procurement contracts.
  • Include a reference to digital accessibility in internal calls for proposals to encourage inclusive initiatives.

Accessibility of Campuses and Buildings

Better Managing the Process of Making Our Buildings Accessible

To tangibly improve access to our campuses and buildings, we have implemented a nine-year plan aimed at making our entire real estate portfolio accessible to people with disabilities. To ensure the success of this plan, those responsible for construction and building management have received training and participated in practical exercises addressing disability issues. Furthermore, our new long-term real estate strategy fully incorporates this accessibility goal.
Our initiatives:
  • Use detailed accounting records to accurately identify the expenses incurred for accessibility improvements.
  • Regularly monitor the implementation of our multi-year accessibility plan.
  • Formalize collaboration between the heritage departments and the accessibility liaison, from the feasibility phase through the completion of construction and renovation work.
  • Systematically train new site managers to take into account the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Develop and update accessibility records for each building open to the public (ERP).

Improving the accessibility of our buildings

During the term of our previous multi-year disability master plan, we ensured that accessibility was systematically provided in all new university buildings. In addition, compliance with accessibility standards is now automatically incorporated into all our projects to remodel and renovate existing buildings.
Our initiatives:
  • Plan and prioritize specific accessibility improvement projects over several years, in accordance with the commitments outlined in our scheduled accessibility plan.
  • Ensure accessibility from the design stage for all new construction projects.
  • Systematically incorporate compliance and accessibility goals into all renovation and remodeling projects for existing buildings.
  • Prioritizing user experience: We will go beyond strict regulatory requirements to provide an optimized user experience that benefits everyone.
