Arts Campus: The Artistic and Architectural Heritage of theUniversité Grenoble Alpes

Our university is home to more than seventy works of contemporary art scattered across our various campuses. This rich and varied collection includes paintings, street art, sculptures, mosaics, installations, and even remarkable architectural features.

An Exceptional Heritage

L' Université Grenoble Alpes is renowned for having one of the most beautiful campuses in France, in Saint-Martin-d'Hères near Grenoble. Since its conception in the late 1960s, our university has consistently aimed to develop an exceptional architectural, urban, and landscape heritage. With this in mind, some forty works of art have been integrated into the buildings and spaces of the campus, creating a veritable artistic garden. Similarly, around thirty works now enrich the scientific peninsula in Grenoble, as well as our various satellite campuses, notably in Valence This approach was made possible thanks to the use - and often the pooling - of funds from the so-called "1% for art" scheme.

Campus des Arts

The Arts Campus's mission is to showcase the entire artistic and architectural heritage of the Université Grenoble Alpes We identify remarkable works of art and architecture, document them, and organize outreach activities so that all audiences can discover them. Today, more than seventy contemporary artworks are listed on our campuses. Installations, paintings, street art, sculptures, mosaics... This heritage is multifaceted!

A living environment where art fosters learning

Approximately 60,000 students and 10,000 staff members thrive in an environment where knowledge is deeply supported and enriched by contemporary art. We invite the university community—students, faculty, and researchers—to discover these works so that they can fully engage with these creations, which they all too often pass by without noticing. Our campuses are also open to the general public, who are welcome to explore a beautiful landscaped park that harmoniously blends architecture and sculpture.
