Our efforts to conserve our resources and prevent waste

At the University ofUniversité Grenoble Alpes (UGA), we have been pursuing an ambitious resource conservation policy for many years. Strategies such as sharing equipment, preventing waste through repairs, and extending equipment warranties are all initiatives currently underway at our university, demonstrating once again the university community’s commitment to these issues.

Repair equipment

The Camio.net program is a mobile repair shop set up by the UGA to repair students’ computers on various campuses. This program, which has been in operation since 2023, has helped more than 480 students to date.

Repair Cafés, held once a month at UGA’s fablabs, are workshops designed to teach participants how to repair broken items together. UGA students and staff are invited to come repair or maintain their equipment on their own or with the help of experienced volunteers.

Pool

The Matos equipment lending platform was created to promote the sharing of equipment among UGA entities and thereby reduce the environmental impact associated with purchasing new equipment. This platform makes it possible to catalog available resources and connect the various units for short-, medium-, or long-term loans.

Recycle and Compost

We are installing recycling bins in our various buildings to manage different waste streams and maximize their reuse. We are also setting up composting sites on our various campuses, allowing our users to recycle their food waste and thereby reduce the amount of household waste sent to incineration.
