Open Science: Sharing Knowledge for the Benefit of All

Open science is a key principle now embraced by UNESCO, Europe, and France: it aims to freely disseminate the results, methods, and products of research—whether publications, data, or computer code—in order to make them accessible to society as a whole. At theUniversité Grenoble Alpes, we are committed, alongside our partners, to this national and international movement toward sharing, which today raises major scientific, ethical, and societal issues.
To implement this ambitious policy, we are taking concrete action:
  • Call for Submissions:
We encourage and support an increase in open-access publications available in full on the HAL platform.
  • Data Management:
The Grenoble Alpes Data Unit provides practical support to our researchers in managing and making their data open.
  • Training and Awareness:
We provide training and raise awareness among our scientific community—particularly our doctoral students—about best practices in open science.
  • Publishing Support:
We are developing an open publishing policy in collaboration with our publishers (UGA Éditions, Presses universitaires de Grenoble) and our libraries.
