New Generations of Nuclear Engineering Graduates in Grenoble and Valence (N2G2V)
Skills and Careers of the Future
Training
The main goal of the N2G2V project is to significantly increase the number of graduates in the nuclear sector—particularly those with a master’s degree—to meet the needs of this industry.
Topic:
Nuclear
Background and Issues
The composition of the N2G2V consortium is the result of a close and long-standing collaboration between industrial nuclear stakeholders and academic programs at Grenoble INP - UGA and Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA). The industrial members of the consortium include national prime contractors, national service providers, and companies based in the Grenoble region.
France 2030 Goal
Develop small, innovative nuclear reactors with improved waste management.
Main Areas of Focus
The project draws on the UGA’s master’s program in Nuclear Engineering at Valence and on the engineering schools Grenoble INP - UGA Phelma and Ense3.
In practical terms, the N2G2V project will make it possible to:
Promoting Training and Careers in the Nuclear and Energy Sectors
The project aims to enhance the sector's appeal by:
Improving the visibility of the programs offered and career opportunities.
Organizing awareness-raising activities in middle schools and high schools, as well as at forums and trade shows.
Collaborating with the regional education office, other AMI-CMA projects, and industry partners in France and abroad.
Supporting future graduates through various assistance programs (master’s and doctoral scholarships).
Strengthen and diversify the training offerings
N2G2V aims to expand its existing training programs by:
A significant increase in the number of graduates. At UGA, the goal is to double the number of graduates from the Master’s program in Nuclear Engineering Valence by 2030.
The creation of new programs, whether in-person or in a hybrid format, including: a "Nuclear" apprenticeship program at Grenoble INP - UGA, refresher modules for students returning to school, and bridge programs to help students from other disciplines transition into the nuclear field.
Facilitate access to academic and industrial partner experimental platforms
On the academic side
N2G2V will enable significant investments in experimental and simulation platforms. This point is linked to the increase in student enrollment. It concerns additive manufacturing platforms at SIMAP; nuclear instrumentation platforms at LPSC; molten salt platforms at LPSC; and thermohydraulics and nuclear control and command platforms at Ense3, with support from partner EVIDEN; as well as the reactor simulation platform at LPSC in collaboration with the company CORYS.
Among our industry partners
This includes, for example, EDF's driving simulators.
