Our Efforts to Create an Environmentally Responsible Digital Environment

The digital sector, which is ubiquitous in university operations, is responsible for a growing share of global greenhouse gas emissions. Recognizing this major challenge—particularly as it relates to equipment manufacturing—we are implementing a policy aimed at raising awareness among our staff and students to limit equipment replacement, improve the energy efficiency of data centers and networks, and promote more environmentally responsible uses of digital technology.

Management of Equipment and Infrastructure

Our strategy focuses on minimizing the replacement of devices. We prioritize the purchase of refurbished or eco-labeled equipment. In addition, we are working to improve the energy efficiency of our data centers and networks, with a particular focus on increasing our reliance on renewable energy sources.

Awareness-Raising and Behavioral Change

Since the impact of digital technology is often invisible, we run targeted campaigns to encourage the adoption of eco-friendly habits. It is crucial that every user adopt habits of moderation—whether in purchasing decisions (sharing, buying refurbished items, renting) or in daily use—in order to become aware of their individual and collective carbon footprints.

Promote eco-design

It is essential that future generations adopt responsible digital practices. This involves, in particular, moderating video content consumption and making eco-design a standard practice in the development of our websites and digital services.
