Arcane

LabEx
To promote molecular chemistry within a collaborative, interdisciplinary network to address major scientific and societal challenges in energy, health, and the environment.
Topics:
Molecular chemistry, energy, health, environment.

Background and Issues

Arcane is a scientific project, established in 2012, focused on molecular chemistry. It brings together nearly 350 permanent researchers, technicians, and support staff, as well as 270 non-permanent staff members, across 16 research laboratories.

By joining the University Research School of Chemistry, Biology, and Health in 2018, Arcane has strengthened the ties between research and education by implementing innovative training programs tailored to the needs of our doctoral and postdoctoral students, such as the writing workshop and the graphical abstract contest.

Objectives

Arcane is driven both by a commitment to basic research and by a desire to address current scientific and societal challenges, such as:
  • The development of molecular and multifunctional systems for energy.
  • The design and validation of new chemical structures for healthcare.
  • Optimization of tools and methodologies for molecular-scale detection and signal transduction.
  • The development of innovative strategies for sustainable and efficient chemistry.
