Brain and Cognition (CerCoG)

LabEx
Study of cognitive and brain mechanisms in humans, under both normal and pathological conditions, using an interdisciplinary approach.
Topics:
Brain, cognition, neuroscience, interdisciplinarity.

Background and Issues

LabEx CerCoG fosters innovative collaborations between disciplines that are often very different, paving the way for breakthroughs that address major challenges in the fields of health, education, disability, and industry. With its 18 laboratories, 600 researchers, and five experimental platforms, LabEx CerCoG plays a key role in scientific research on the brain and cognition at theUniversité Grenoble Alpes.

Objectives

To better understand how the brain and human cognition work.

Main Areas of Focus

  1. The study of cognitive functions, to explore our thoughts, language, memory, motor skills, and sensory perception, as well as our social interactions.
  2. Neurons and neural networks, to study the connections in our brain using disciplines such as biophysics, chemistry, and mathematics.
  3. Clinical neuroscience, to improve the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders by discovering new biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
