LabEx
Bring together the Grenoble community whose research can be applied to the development of medical devices
Topics:
Medical devices, health technologies, diagnostics, monitoring, therapy, imaging.

Background and Issues

LabEx GIMeD draws on the Grenoble region’s expertise in microelectronics, materials, nanotechnology, computer science, and artificial intelligence to develop cutting-edge technologies in the field of medical devices. It aims to facilitate collaboration among researchers, companies, and institutions; support interdisciplinary research; and foster the transition from prototypes to industrial products. LabEx GIMeD also emphasizes ethical, societal, and regulatory issues to ensure that innovation in health technologies is part of an approach that serves society and patients.

Objective

The LabEx GIMeD aims to promote basic and applied research in the field of medical devices (MDs).

Main Areas of Focus

  • In vitro microsystems for point-of-care diagnostics and organ-on-a-chip assays.
  • In vivo devices for monitoring and therapy.
  • Radiation-based imaging and theranostic tools.
  • Devices to assist with medical and surgical procedures.
  • The regulatory, societal, and ethical considerations present at every stage of medical device development.
