QuantAlps

LabEx
Expand research from fundamental quantum sciences to quantum technologies.
Topics:
Social and human sciences for quantum technology, quantum computing, quantum engineering, quantum matter, cryogenics, enabling technologies for quantum technology.

Background and Issues

The QuantAlps ecosystem consists of an interdisciplinary community of approximately 270 permanent researchers from 18 laboratories and four parent organizations (Université Grenoble Alpes, CNRS, CEA, and INRIA). The disciplines involved in the project include physics, materials science, quantum technologies and microelectronics, cryogenics, applied mathematics and mathematical physics, computer science, philosophy, ethics, and sociology.

QuantAlps researchers focus on the currently identified cross-cutting application areas of quantum computing, quantum simulation, quantum communication, quantum sensors, and quantum metrology, as well as new concepts in quantum science and technology. The LabEx fosters research synergy within the QuantAlps community and promotes international initiatives, as well as knowledge transfer and collaboration in this field with key industrial players in the Grenoble region, ranging from startups to large corporations. The LabEx also encourages dialogue between researchers, society, and the general public in a spirit of openness, inclusion, and a collaborative approach to science.

Objectives

The QuantAlps LabEx is dedicated to discovering and understanding quantum effects at the fundamental level, mastering them, and harnessing them for new technological applications, while remaining mindful of their societal impact within the framework of sustainable innovation.
