The VerIT project aims to develop a series of awareness-raising and training initiatives for a wide range of audiences, including elementary and secondary school students, undergraduate and doctoral students, working professionals, job seekers, people undergoing career transitions, and everyday digital users.
Topic:
Digital Greening
Background and Issues
There is no longer any doubt about the significant impact of the digital world on the environment. As a result, the need for training on the direct and indirect impacts of the digital world has become clear.
Main Areas of Focus
The actions proposed as part of the VerIT project are divided into four main categories:
Initiatives aimed at the general public are primarily designed to raise awareness and educate the public about the various aspects of environmentally responsible digital technology, as well as to train citizens in techniques for maintaining and repairing digital devices.
Educational programs ranging from elementary school through the doctoral level provide the necessary scientific foundations in computer science and offer interdisciplinary courses in collaboration with the humanities and social sciences to foster a deep understanding of the impacts of digital technology on the environment and society.
Continuing education and lifelong learning programs provide training for a broad audience of working adults and job seekers, as well as staff at the “Université Grenoble Alpes ” responsible for digital services and high school teachers who teach computer science courses.
Communication and educational innovation initiatives support the three categories of initiatives mentioned above.
